Ensanada de Los Muertos

Ensanada de Los Muertos
Thursday 2/11/2010
Today we had coffee, got dressed and before breakfast rode with Gary on his dinghy to shore. The restaurant here turned out to also have a condo and land real estate sales office. There unfortunately no laundry facilities, or showers or ice or water as stated in the mexico "Charlies Charts" book we have. Bummer, we'll try the golf course clubhouse tomorrow. We noticed they renamed the place to??? instead of it's real name "fury of the Dead" "Cove of the Dead". I can see why, who'd want to buy in a place with that name, bad jojo, mojo man. Looks like this is becoming California down here, too much development, nice looking but soon will be be too ritzy and too crowded. Sad. Not anti-cruiser here but not really authentic feeling or indigenous natural and not many places left, just a few fishing boats lined up on shore and the old remains of a wharf. Progress is inevitable I guess. We are waiting out a bit of weather til it blows over, then will head out, probably Sunday. While fixing dinner stir fry we ran out of water, yikes! Scott and Gary went on shore in the dinghy to the golf course clubhouse and took a 5 gallon jug Which they filled for 60 dollars (5 bucks American). Life is good. We enjoyed a nice meal and had peach cobbler for dessert. We ate some fish trigger Gary had caught, he is an AVID and tenacious fisherman. It was delicious! I think we're eating too good lately.
Friday 2-12-10
We all 3 rode in our dinghy ashore, even though it was windy and mostly overcast. Some sun smiled on us as we all took a nice and well needed walk around to stretch our legs and it also check out the old stone wharf remains that once were used to export salt and silver ore back in the day. We found some interesting small shells, coral, dead fish and critters and such. We saw a gigantic, massive and impressive, 25K sq. ft. someone is building mansion high on the hillside overlooking the ocean. Pretty huge but nice architecture. We met some people that were going paddle boarding, middle age very nice couple, they said La Paz has more amenities and authentic Mexican farmers markets and so on. I can not wait. We also watched some local fishermen bring in a net of small fish.
When we were through trapsing through the soft sand and rocks like kids exploring we dropped Gary off at his boat and went to ours for lunch and to finish up and such dishes.
Later Scott and I ventured out (his idea) to do some snorkeling. I had to do a lot of encouraging and point out to me that another couple were out there, Because the wind was howling and it was dang cold and I was not too keen on the idea. But as it turns out we went out near the other people snorkeling, a nice couple from Canada 30'ish (Mike and Hyo). As we were going to drop anchor we got temporarily stuck on a coral head in our dinghy. Finally got off it and found a better spot to drop our little dinghy anchor. We waived to Mike and Hyo and they gave us a thumbs up. We then put our wet shirts on, diving gloves, fins, mask and mouthpiece and then fell in the water and saw a whole different world. I love the ocean under the water as much as I do sailing than on top. It is all good though and I'm grateful we are able to start getting in it and swim. We need the exercise off the boat and it feels good. We floated and swam all over the coral areas checking out the awesome sea life. I loved the puffy black and white fish and the little purple ones, so colorful, but there were all kinds of sealife. There were gray and black skinny little starfish that looked fake (like plastic) and schools of angel fish and so thick it was almost creepy a couple of times, but cool at the same time. We finally got chilly and headed back to the dinghy. We came back, stripped off our wet cold stuff and got warm and snuggy and enjoyed a nice cup of coffee, cream and sugar and red and listened to music and watched the ocean, the clouds, the birds and so on. and listened to the lapping of the water on our boat and dinghy. I worked on learning to add pics to my blog posting in these entries, yeah. That will make it more interesting for all of you I hope and give you an idea of what we are seeing and living. Also, we again found another random strip of duct tape hanging out the through hull on the rear of the boat and got it out. "What the * x !!!?" (as my grandson would say" What the "and leave off the last word or his mom Amanda would give him some discipline. He is a character. So anyway, I hope we discover where this junk is coming from and it all works it way out of our tailpipe (so to speak), so bizarre! I hope this entry finds all of you loving all or at least most of your days on land and realize that there lies adventure as well and that life is so good, we are blessed and should take care of our beautiful world and each other. I love you all and I truly mean that. Blessings from myself and Scott
