BIG BOTTOMED GIRLS - You make the sailin' world go round

Friday 2/19/2010
We got up and ate a nice local breakfast in town.
We got our propane tank filled at the Marina de La Paz.
I worked on sewing some cute lue curtains for our bedroom (master berth) and some rust color for the salon (living area) and matching throw pillow covers.
Scott got his hair cut and it looks great and much cooler.
He also rode his bike around town with Gary to get competitive bids for the boat bottom paint. Our first bid was cheapest we discovered.
Scott filled up more water jugs and dinghies them back to the boat for our tank.

Saturday Feb. 20, 2010
Scott filled up more water, like a madman trying to top off our 125 gallon tank.
We were finally able to empty our environmentally safely at a proper waste oil disposal in here, we've been hauling it around with us for too long.
I want to check into a.m. yoga sessions.

Sunday Feb. 21, 2010
We woke up and cleaned out the massive tool closet and made it into the pantry and put the tools where the food was before, under couches. Hopefully will be better.
We went to swap meet and got some deals.
We later took a taxi to City Club (like Costco) and stocked up on food, it's been awhile, so were in need of breads, tortillas, eggs, yogurt, fruits, veggies and so on. They had great prices, quality and selection.
When we got back in dinghy later and unloaded I then cleaned the fridge and put the food away.
Rode dinghy back to Marina de La Paz and went to their book swap and got some new books to read and I organized all our books.

Monday Feb. 22, 2010
Scott went to look for aluminum for whisker pole and plumbing parts to fix the toilet.
I emailed the gal on wind generator problem.
I did computer work and worked on packing shells and arranging flights to SLC to visit family.
BIG BIG and BIGGER NEWS, the Water pump is fixed! It was silly air in the system after all. It's fine and working great. Can you believe all the hassle we went through and worry and we thought we'd have to replace it. Anyway, for now it is good, YAHOO!

Tuesday Feb. 23. 2010
Got up early and Motor happily down to DAS Boatyard, actually it's called Berkovich Boatyard (even though the owner Abel, pronounced Ah-bell, local looks. Very tall and nice owner. I also dove under the boat when the rail was under water and We motor over it. I have attached us to it and can hold his breath for a LONG time, I'm telling you. Anyway it took about an hour for him to get it all set up under water and then this giant pulley cables pulled us and the rail / trailer thing up onto shore. We are now about 20 'above the ground and as you will see from the pics, the bottom of the boat was HORRIDLY scummy and rusty on the keel (which is cast iron and huge) . They immediately set up a ladder (see pic) for us to use to get on / off the boat, Which we will stay in while here. Then they started power washing away. Hard workers. We gave one a bag of old clothes we didn 't need. He seemed grateful. pasali Scott fixed a yummy dinner and we looked out over the windy bay and the lights at night. Very quiet and peaceful except for occasional night of the guard dogs bark, are two pits and one a bull . look fierce but are very good with us. Cute. It's been chilly at night as there is a Norther blowing hard out over the water, we are protected here by a hill close by luckily.
Went for a nice long desert walk earlier in the day and got some exercise.
Also had an older gentleman come look at canvas work, I was a real character.
Got a kick out of his such've told.

Wednesday Feb. 24, 2010
Got a bid on canvas windows for front of Dodger, Removing the hard ones will help with visibility, air flow for cooling when it is HOT HOT HOT, and lessening the windage so hopefully we can go faster. Will see what Danny from Pacific Threads comes up with for a price. Local nice guy, very friendly and helpful.
I'm busy trying to make travel plans to Utah, it's very hard to coordinate it all but I am pretty sure I'll get there. Can not wait to visit.
Scott is busy doing odd jobs and I'm cleaning (what's new, hee hee), I'm hopeless I guess.
Nice day but still windy.

I'ts funny how many boaters there are and how much work we all put into this lifestyle and money. We must be determined to cross those waters. Some quit and most hang in there, the dream lives on. Amazing to see it all and be part of it really.
