Went to shore in Gary's dinghy and took a 5 mile round trip hike to the next bay (cause you can not anchor there, it's a preserve with coral etc.) Blazing a trail through the desert, weaving through dried cow dung, Which prevalent. Gila monster holes, sharp thorne plants, Which here has lots of plants and cactus, we finally found the road and followed it over. We enjoyed seeing lots of cool desert plants and flowers. We saw a few cows like Brahms, and some vultures near a well (about 30 of them), and some cool hawks. We passed one farm and there was a huge brown dog watch that let us know he did not like us being on the road there and we carefully skirted past with sticks in hand (in case). We had to pass him again on the way back, it bites wings. Yeah! When we got to the marine preserve it was beautiful with pristine white sand beach and neat rocks. We got into our snorkeling gear and even though the water was choppy it was nice and comfortable temperature so we all got in and snorkel all around the cove. We saw lots of awesome fish, some very colorful and fairly large, lots of colorful schools of smaller ones. We saw eels and ribbon fish too. The coral was dark, not like the colorful kind I was used to seeing while snorkeling in Hawaii but the fish love it and it's cool. What an awesome and refreshing swim. Then we walked back through the desert again and found the road again. We saw a guy with Utah plates and asked him where I was from. He said Salt Lake City. Said he comes down for a couple of months every winter. I guess some of the bridges he uses to get here were flooded out this year and I had to 4 wheel drive in the wash when they were dry, YIKES. We made it back to our shore and got in the dinghy to get back to our boats. A funny little duck was hanging out right by our swim steps and swam under Gary's dinghy as he unloaded us. Then it was swimming under our boat. When we were coming round the rear of our boat
Rogue greasy we spotted a nasty looking piece of 9 "or so long out of duct tape to rear through hull, have to see if this was the engine water egress, if so, hmmm, could that have been part of our overheating problem from the start, yikes. Will find out. Scott pulled it out but it was hard to pull out. Weird stuff random boat. Tings I never know.
We had a good lunch and a nap.
Gary had gone to his boat for the same.
I enjoyed being on land for awhile and getting some exercise for my legs and smelling the plants in the desert. I love the smell of the earth and plants. I did catch my leg on a cactus and Gary had to pull a big chunk of it off my leg with the spins. It was not as painful as it looked. We actually got some good sun today and a good dip in the ocean. I loved it and Scott and Gary did too.
Scott climbed the mast tonight to fix a short in the mast that is running down a metal shroud line and was welding itself onto the handrail, yikes, still did not fix it, so he's up it in the morning.
So nice here've Decided to stay an extra day and snorkeling right around our boat tomorrow.
Gary just caught a fish and filleting is him. He'll put in our fridge as he does not have one. Then we'll have some coffee, tea and leftover cornbread. We had such a big late lunch we're not hungry enough to make dinner.

Scott and I spent the gray cloudy drizzly day running a new wire to the running lights as they had a weird short. Something is still amiss though but it's almost fixed.
